Size matters?

It's been pointed out to me that the grasshopper that I talked about in a previous post wasn't really all that big, and is just a normal sized grasshopper. I guess I should point out that I'm sort of afraid of bugs, and that if it has more than 4 legs, it probably looks about 4 to 10 times it's size or more to me.

Oh yeah...

They also come in "Pig" shape.

Bacon + chocolate = fantastic!

Susan brought be a Mo's bacon bar back as a gift from San Francisco. To the uninitiated it's applewood smoked bacon and alderwood smoked salt in deep milk chocolate. Yeah, that's right, a bacon chocolate bar! It may sound like a weird combination, but it is yummy and I recommend it to everyone to at least try.

Super name!

A 19 year old British kid officially had his name changed from George Garrett, to "Captain Fantastic Faster Than Superman Spiderman Batman Wolverine Hulk And The Flash Combined." Hell yeah! Good job Mr. Combined, hell of an improvement... but I don't think most of those are known particularly for speed.

Gigantor

These pictures don't do this thing justice. It's a gigantic grasshopper that is hanging out on my mailbox, I have dubbed him, Gigantor. His full name is Gigantorus Maximus III.

Stuff that creeps the hell out of me!

1. Penguins: Not really just penguins, but more specifically the fact that they are four feet tall. Think about it... I always thought they were little and cute, but no... four feet tall! FOUR FEET TALL! I dunno, but that creeps me out.

2. The fact that on the other side of the world there are people walking around basically upside down. Know what I mean? Think about it... yeah... there's people down there...

3. Bugs.

4. There's a coffin in Susan's room. Yeah, seriously. Susan's dad is going to use it for Halloween at the fire department. They are going to put the candy in it and make the little kids reach in to get the candy. I think they should hide a penguin or something in there to jump out at them, but hey. Anyway, they needed a place to keep it and so I volunteered Susan's bedroom. She' out of town and not using it anyway.

5. The fact that the coffin is made of card board! It's just felt covered card board with metal handles. It's not that it would biodegrade, or that bugs can get through, whatever. But I'd be afraid if you were carrying it with the body in it, that it would break. It's totally flimsy! I mean, I had heard of card board coffins, but I didn't know they were real! I just thought it was a turn of phrase or something. Susan's dad says they cave in when they put the dirt on top. That's kind of sad. I'm getting turned into a diamond anyway.

Political survey thing

Stole this from Susan and I'm bored.

01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
Yes.

[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
Meth is disgusting and it causes physical and mental problems that will ruin your life. Of course not.

[03] Abortion: for or against it?
Saying you are for abortion sounds wrong. I'm not for going out and aborting fetuses for fun. But I think a woman has the right to choose what happens in her body. And if the situation warrants it, abortion I think it should definitely be considered as a viable option in our overpopulated world.

[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
Of course not, some of the worlds greatest leaders have, historically, been women.

[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
I don't fear death, so I think the death penalty is letting people off easy. I also think we have given the death penalty to many innocent people. Life in prison, to me, is much worse a fate than death.

[06] Do you think marijuana should be legalized?
Of course, I think it should be legalized, regulated, and taxed. It doesn't hurt anybody any more than cigarettes do, and could be a huge source of tax revenue to fund things like health care.

[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
I think it's important for couples to know if they are sexually compatible before they get married. I don't believe teenage sex is okay, but between adults absolutely. How many marriages fail because the couple isn't compatible that way?

[08] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
Yeah. Of course it should.

[09] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
I think it's wrong that it's illegal for them to come here. Unless you are Native American, your ancestors were "illegal" immigrants too.

[10] A twelve year old girl gets pregnant, should she keep it?
Of course not! A twelve year old girl wasn't old enough to have sex, she certainly isn't old enough to raise a child. If her parents let her get pregnant, then they obviously can't help raise that child. It should be aborted, or put up for adoption.

[11] Should the drinking age be lowered to 18?
I'm leaving Susan's answer...
No, and here's why: the laws about alcohol are in place for a reason, it's not
because we don't want 18 year-olds to have fun, it's because the body is not able to properly process alcohol at 18. Furthermore, the brain is still developing until 23. If anything, the drinking age should be raised to 23. Also, as for the argument that if an 18 year old can fight a war he can have a beer, that's ridiculous. The age that it's possible to enlist in the military should also be raised to 23. Teenagers should not be fighting in wars. And until the brain is fully developed, they should not be allowed to make that sort of life altering decision.

[12] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
Iraqis don't want us, we don't want to be there, of course we should leave. The real fight should be with the Taliban in Afghanistan.

[13] Assisted suicide is illegal do you agree?
Again, leaving Susan's answer. I agree that it's illegal, (except in Oregon). I do not agree that it should be. People shouldn't be made to suffer when they are no longer able to live their lives.

[14] Do you believe in spanking your children?
Hmmm Susan's answer again... I'm lazy. I believe that it's okay to swat a child, once, on their bottom, preferably with a flyswatter, to get their attention, I don't believe in spanking as a punishment. It's been proven not to work, and I don't think it's okay to tell a child not to hit, and then hit them. Teach by example.

[15] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
Sure, pass the lighter.

[16] Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?
GoooooooooObama!

[17] Do you think Obama will be killed?
I hope not, but I'm sure some whacko racist is going to think about it.

[18] Should child predators be forced to wear signs identifying themselves?
There was recently a case where two teenagers had sex and were both charged with "having sex with a minor". They were both underage. They are both now classified as sex offenders, or child predators, for the rest of their lives. I think if it is a real creepo who has sex with a child, he should be chemically castrated. Problem solved.

[19] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
About what? I really expected something more controversial. I'm quite frankly, slightly disapointed.

Comparison

Do you want the guy who wants to whine and talk about his opponents short comings during a time of crisis? Or do you want the guy who is actually trying to do something, and is putting aside differences in a time of need? I know who I'm voting for...

Candidate tax cut calculator

Follow the following link to see what your taxes would be like with Obama and McCain. Looks like Susan and I would get an $870.98 tax cut with Obama and with McCain I would pay $846.11 MORE than with Obama. Which means that Mccain would give me a $24.87 tax cut. SPC South Plains College Goat Screw

I'm paranoid about registration and financial aid stuff at school; I just don't trust them to get everything done right. It's because of this, I call them about once every week or so to make sure I've done everything I need to do and that my stuff is being worked on. I have been told every time "You've done everything, we're just processing the files and it will be done before school starts, you do not need to worry". The last time I called was Friday August 8th and again was told, everything is done, not to worry.

Flash forward to today August 12, tuition is due in two days on August 14th. I logged in just to review my schedule and to get ready to email my teachers and lo and behold my financial aid file still has not been processed!

I called and called the financial aid office only to be put on hold for 20 minutes and then hung up on each time (3 times and about an hour and a half of calling). So, I finally gave up and drove to the school.

The financial aid office was crazy packed, which is understandable seeing as how the semester is about to start. After waiting in line for about half an hour I get to the front only to hear "Well, you've done everything, why hasn't it been processed." I then wait while the lady goes to find out what's wrong and when she comes back she informs me that they somehow "Forgot" to process my financial aid file and that it will have to be resubmitted. In the mean time I will have to pay for school out of pocket and be reimbursed when my financial aid is approved.

Needless to say I threw a fit, this was their screw up, not mine I shouldn't have to pay. Not only that, but I can't afford to pay. "We can make a payment arrangement with you and you can make payments of around $100 weekly until it gets resolved". Again, I threw a fit. This resulted in me being told I can wait to see my adviser.

An hour later I'm called back to see my financial aid adviser, who tells me that my original adviser "Left us" (meaning he either quit or got fired) while he just happened to be working on my file. When he left he neglected to inform anyone that he had pulled my file and was not done with it, so it just sort of got brushed aside and forgotten about. Fast forward to now, his replacement is horrified and doesn't know what to tell me. I really can't blame her it's not her fault, but still. She tells me that she has resubmitted my fafsa which will take a week to three weeks to process and I can make payments out of pocket until then and be reimbursed when my financial aid is approved.

After arguing that I shouldn't have to, and can't afford to pay out of pocket, she conceded and said she'd see what could be done. She then came back and said that the "emergency loan" fund was empty, and that I probably couldn't get one but I can apply for one to pay my tuition. She then says that I will have to pay $30 cash (which I don't have) now out of pocket to apply. SO.... I threw another fit.

She went and spoke to the dean of finance who waived the $30 fee and said that they'd find some way to get me an emergency loan. After filling out the application we find that my adviser's big sister was friends with Susan when they were younger. Small world...

Now I'm told to go wait in the crowded waiting room again (I have social anxiety disorder) and that it will take a while for them to find the money.

About 2 hours later there were 6 of us waiting in the waiting room to hear about our emergency loan applications. The front desk women suddenly grabbed their purses, turned off the lights and left for home, without saying a word to any of us!

After 30 minutes of sitting in the dark I got up and hopped the counter (the doors were locked) and wandered around in the office area until I found someone. I scared the bejesus out of her and she said they were still trying to allocate funds for me and were shocked to find that the front desk ladies turned the lights out on us.

I was upset about waiting but there was a girl there with a baby that kept sneezing and laughing and that was hilarious!

A while later (a total of about 3 hours and change) they start calling people up to tell them what's going on, a guy in front of me got his emergency loan and left looking confused, two girls both got told they were denied because they couldn't allocate the funds. They cried and argued and ended up leaving in tears. I figured I would be leaving in tears shortly too. I got called up and told that they were able to find money to give me an emergency loan, classes are paid for, all is well. Damn!

I feel really bad for those two girls as I feel like they were denied so that I could get mine, but I know it's really the schools fault. All in all I wasted about 6 hours total online, then on the phone, then in person, trying to deal with this today. ugh!

Wub on me!

I hate germs, I don't like to be around anyone who is sneezing and blowing their nose or even just complaining of not feeling well. This is why Susan's good for me, when she's sick she usually wants to be left alone, so I just stay away and don't get sick.

This time she's all "I'b siiick..." cause people sound like that with stuffy noses.."I just wad sobody to wub on me" so me being the husband, that duty falls to me. Love on the sick girl...

Now I'm freakin sick! I hate being sick! Bah! I'm all stuffy nosed and sleepy and I feel like that monkey up there looks... blah!

To make myself feel better here's...

If it's not one thing...

A telephone ringing is never a good thing to wake up to, especially when you look at the clock and see that it's 6 in the morning. Especially, when the first thing you hear after you mutter "hmmmrffo?" is "Somebody broke into your truck, you need to come outside!"

What the hell is wrong with people? I went out to find that it wasn't even someone breaking in, it was just someone breaking! They smashed out the back window of my truck with a baseball bat or something. It is so frustrating, I'd much rather them have at least stolen something so that there would be a reason for it. But no, someone just smashed my window out for "fun".

I was asleep in the back of the house so I didn't hear a thing, the dogs didn't bark at all either, some guard dogs they are! It's gonna cost $250 to fix, I don't have enough money to get breakfast this morning much less fix a windshield.

Yesterday when we left to take Susan to the airport one of the tires was flat, I aired it back up and it's holding air. I'd say there was someone out to get me, but I don't know anyone here except my in law / next door neighbors.

I always read about "vandals smashed out 5 car windows on the 400 block of blah blah blah..." and think wow it sucks to be those people, now I know for sure it does indeed suck to be those people!

Anyway thanks for letting me rant, I'm going to go clean out all the glass (it's EVERYWHERE) and try to cover the window before the giant thunderstorm that's about to get here... er... gets here.

Justin

JUSTIN

Gender: Masculine

WTF!?

Ok so I understand that this is supposed to be satirical. It's supposed to be making fun of all the stupid rumors that are flying around the internet about Obama that aren't true. But damn... that's just freaking ridiculously offensive. I expect better from the new yorker... Maybe Fox news would show something like that but not the NEW YORKER! I'm all for satire, and I know that's what the new yorker's about but I worry that people will see that and think that it means it's true or something. I dunno...

my so called "irrational" fears

I hate spiders... we have Wolf spiders, which look like brown recluses but are "harmless". Yeah that's one up above there, just imagine seeing one of those on your bedskirt... bugh! There's one that seems to live in my bathroom in a hole in the wall... right behind the toilet... I swear on all that is holy that it is at least as big as the one in that pic up there!!! I walk into the bathroom at night and flick on the light only to see this monster scurrying away quickly... it always dissapears and makes me feel a little crazy, since I can't show it to Susan and she doesn't believe me... I see it at least once every two or three days... Last night I killed two of it's smaller siblings (still huge mind you) and I think I heard one of them shout that "Abbadon will avenge my death!!!" as I squished it... I looked up "Abbadon" on google and apparently it is the hebrew word for evil! OH MY GOD! It has to be that giant one behind the toilet! I don't know what to do...

I'm not sure if these wolf spiders are better than what we had before... when we first moved into this house there were a ton of house centipedes... Check it out, I looked up creepy in the dictionary and what did I find? this:

Yeah that's a house centipede... one bit Susan once... they like to crawl up to the ceiling above your bed and drop down into it... I'm not making that up! Ok I'm gonna go over there and have the heebee geebees for a bit..

waiting...

I really like shopping online... you don't have to go to a crowded store, the prices are sometimes waaaay cheaper... and you get packages in the mail! Some would say it sucks to have to wait a couple days for something, but really if you need it THAT bad then you shouldn't be buying it online.. I really don't like the actual active waiting part, like when the tracking website says "out for delivery" but has said that since 6am so you don't know when it will be there... that's what I'm doing now.. I like the idea that I'm about to get something in the mail, but not the whole having to keep one eye on the window thing. I wish they would at least give you some sort of timeframe, like "sometime between 2 and 4pm... but no.. I guess I'll just have to wait...

Also look up there at the fed ex logo... and at the EX in particular... did you ever notice the arrow between the E and X? Me neither... but now I do, and when I look at the logo it just glares out at me now... stop subliminally messaging me!!!

new post

I really don't have anything to say but Susan said I needed to post a new blog... So... well... this is it! I don't really have anything new going on right now, I'm pretty much just doing my best to be as lazy as possible... yup... I'm really horrified that there are so many people who won't vote for Obama because he's black, there are people actually publicly stating this... ugh... also fox news called he and his wife's little fist bump a "terrorist fist jab" what the hell is wrong with fox news!? Me and Susan do stuff like that all the time and it's not a terrorist fist jab... bugh...
